PPCF Merit Image Review
A New Approach to Growth, Education, and Professional Standards
The PPCF Merit Image Review is designed to help photographers grow, refine their craft, and prepare for success at the national level.
This updated program replaces the traditional “Image Competition” model with a more modern, educational approach that aligns with current standards used by Professional Photographers of America.
This isn’t about competing against others.
It’s about evaluating your work against professional standards and becoming a stronger artist with every submission.
Each calendar year includes four image events:
- Two Image Critique & Prep Reviews
Educational, feedback-focused, non-scored events - Two Merit Image Reviews
Scored events that contribute to Top Ten and Photographer of the Year rankings
This structure allows members to learn, refine, and then submit with confidence.
Purpose
A low-pressure environment designed to help you improve your work before submitting to a Merit Image Review or PPA.
Format
- Led by a PPA-approved juror
- Interactive, discussion-based feedback
- Images reviewed using PPA standards
- No impact on rankings or awards
These sessions are purely educational and ideal for photographers at any level.
Purpose
